Alidad Arabshahi, M.D.

Alidad Arabshahi, M.D.Dr. Arabshahi is a native of New Jersey and a Trinity College alumnus where he was inducted to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society. He completed his medical training at George Washington University in 1998 where he was also elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at the University of Maryland in 2003. He started Potomac Ear, Nose and Throat, PLLC with Dr. Ipakchi in 2004. He is a board certified physician by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is also certified in Sleep Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. Dr. Arabshahi has since furthered his education by completing the Executive Master of Business Administration program at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He has been recognized as Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors from 2010-2017 and has also been honored as a Washingtonian Top Doctor. He has received many Patient’s Choice awards.

Dr. Alidad Arabshahi

Ramin Ipakchi, M.D.

Ramin Ipakchi, M.D.Dr. Ipakchi is a native of Baltimore and a University of Virginia alumnus where he was inducted to the prestigious Phi Beta Kappa honor society.  He completed his medical training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1999.  He then completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in 2004.  Together with Dr. Arabshahi, they started Potomac Ear, Nose and Throat, PLLC in 2004.  He is a board certified physician by the American Board of Otolaryngology.  He is also board certified in Sleep Medicine.  He has been awarded as one of America’s Top Physicians, Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors 2010-2017, and has also been selected as a Washingtonian Top Doctor.  He has also received many Patient’s Choice Awards.

Dr. Ramin Ipakchi

Alex Y. Cheng, M.D.

Alex Cheng, M.D.Dr. Cheng is a native of central Pennsylvania and graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh with degree in Neuroscience and Psychology.   He completed his medical training at Temple University in 2009.  He then completed his otolaryngology/head and neck surgery training at the George Washington University in 2014.  During his training, he learned advanced techniques in head and neck cancer management and gained extensive pediatric ENT experience at Children’s National Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and has been honored as one of Northern Virginia Magazine's Top Doctors 2016-2017.  He enjoys treating both kids and adults in the full range of ear, nose and throat disorders.

Stephen M. Bane, M.D.

Stephen Bane, M.D.Dr Bane trained in general surgery in New York at NYU and Bellevue Hospitals. He served in the U.S. Navy as a flight surgeon and as an Otolaryngologist in San Diego and later Pensacola Florida. Dr Bane left the Navy in Pensacola in 1994 to enter private practice. Dr. Bane has practiced in Woodbridge, VA and has been on staff at Potomac Hospital/Sentara Northern VA Medical Center since 1997. He has served as chairman of the OR Committee, ENT Section Chief, Medical Executive Committee and he is currently Chairman of the Surgical Department.

Collins Boateng, PACollins Boateng is a physician assistant, certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. He is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Academy of Otologic Allergy. Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Mr. Boateng received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Virginia Commonwealth University, and Bachelor and Master of Science in Physician Assistants Studies from the University of Nebraska Medical Center.

Our Audiologists

Dr. Brittany Komes

Dr. Brittany KomesDr. Brittany Komes is a board certified Clinical Audiologist, licensed in the State of Virginia. She is a certified member of ASHA (American Speech and Hearing Association) and also has an additional CCC-A professional title.

Dr. Komes has a passion for music since childhood, reading music notes before words. She spent her life playing the piano which has guided her naturally into the field of audiology. She uses her sound expertise into perfecting the acoustics of hearing technology for her patients to better understand speech. She listens to new hearing technology with an expert ear to find the best clarity and tinnitus solutions. Dr. Komes recognizes the complexities involved in how the brain processes and interprets sound. She completed undergraduate research with musicians at The Ohio State University where she graduated with Honors and Distinction in Research, and earned her doctorate in audiology at The University of South Alabama.


Tonya Horton, MS, CCC-A

Tonya Horton, MS, CCC-ATonya received her B.S. in Business Management from George Mason University in 1998 and her M.S. in Audiology from Howard University in 2003. She has been practicing audiology for eleven years and is licensed by the Virginia Board of Hearing Aid Dealers and the Commonwealth of Virginia. She is also certified by the American Speech, Language and Hearing Association. Tonya is a resident in Woodbridge and she is a part time hearing aid dispenser on our staff.

 

Frederick Wiredu, Audiology Technician

Audiology TechnicianFrederick Wiredu is an audiology technician who has been with Potomac ENT since 2016.  He has excelled at assisting our physicians and audiologist by successfully providing our patients with the audiology testing services they require.  In his free time, Frederick ("Freddy") enjoys both playing and watching soccer.
